Code of Conduct
At Data Day Texas, we assume that most people are intelligent and well-intended, and we’re not inclined to tell people what to do. However, sometimes it’s necessary to spell out the behavior we support and don’t support at our events. The core of our approach is this: we will do whatever we believe is necessary to ensure that our events are safe and productive environments for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, marital status, military and veteran status. physical or mental disability, physical appearance, body size, race, color, creed, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age or religion. To make clear what is expected, all delegates/attendees, speakers, exhibitors, organizers and volunteers at our events are required to conform to the following Code of Conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event.
We take issues that affect an inclusive and harassment-free event from occurring very seriously. We acknowledge that this is a real, long-standing issue in the tech community. Let us be clear: we don’t condone harassment or offensive behavior, at our conference or anywhere. It’s counter to our company values. More importantly, it’s counter to our values as human beings.
We’re voicing our strong, unequivocal support of appropriate behavior by all participants at Data Day Texas. We invite you to help us make our events a place that is welcoming and respectful to all participants, so everyone can focus on the conference itself, and the great networking and community richness that can happen when we get together in person.
Unacceptable behavior includes any verbal, visual or physical conduct that is harassing, abusive, offensive, degrading, intimidating, offensive or hostile. This includes materials in slides and presentations that is obscene, vulgar, derogatory or otherwise hostile, including sexual language and imagery.
Speakers and all those in attendance at Data Day Texas should use good judgment; if we hear complaints and we think they are warranted, you may not be invited back or may be asked to leave.
In addition, at other industry conferences there have been accounts of attendees having to put up with stalking, offensive comments, and unwanted sexual advances. To emphasize, if we hear that you are involved in any such unacceptable behavior, we will investigate and take any action we feel is appropriate, including asking you to leave.
All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience including people of many different backgrounds.
Be kind to others. Do not insult or put down other attendees. Behave professionally. Remember that harassment and sexist, racist, or exclusionary jokes are not appropriate for our events. Please bring any concerns to the immediate attention of the event staff, or contact us at diversity@globaldatageeks.org. We thank our attendees for their help in keeping our events welcoming, respectful, and friendly to all participants.
